SHORT SUMMARY OF PROGRAM
Screenwriting
“A good story well told”: Screenwriting students study fundamentals of storytelling and screenplay structure, gaining an understanding of the most important part of any film: the story. Built on a foundation of practical application and interdisciplinary collaboration, students are exposed to great works of cinema that inform and enrich their final productions.
The production concentration is intended to teach a wide range of practical strategies and tools available for creating film meaing, and to encourage creative approaches to production. Students are instructed in both technical and aesthetic aspects of HD Cinematography through hands-on exercises and short projects. All students learn in Northwestern editing Labs.
An intensive five-week course focused on tailoring performances to the screen, students learn how to analyze character, make strong performance choices, and basic production techniques.

Northwestern University National High School Institute: Theatre

WHAT: Our theatre arts division is a powerful exploration into stage performance. A rigorous combination of classes and rehearsals challenge students every day for five weeks. Our students welcome the challenge as we accept students who are passionate and committed to theatre. There are 3 programs: Theatre Arts, Design/Tech, and Musical Theater (a 2 week extension of the Theatre Arts program)

SHORT SUMMARY OF PROGRAMTheatre Arts students will receive wide-ranging and intensive instruction in the techniques, aesthetics, and literature of the theatre. Core classes provide the foundation for Theatre Arts curriculum and include:
• Acting
• Voice/Movement
• Performance Theory
• Text Analysis
• Production Crew
Both core and elective classes give students tremendous opportunity for individual instruction, with a teacher-student ratio of approximately 1:4. To complement the course of study, we arrange guest lectures and field trips to professional productions in Chicago. Nearly every minute of every day is filled with challenging curricular activities.

Global Works: Travel with Purpose - Summer Service Adventures

WHAT: Three types of programs: cultural exchange, language emersion, and enrichment programs. All have a community service compnent.

NAME OF PROGRAM:  Global Works: Travel with Purpose - Summer Service Adventures
SHORT SUMMARY OF PROGRAMFor 25 years, Global Works has been providing exceptional Community Service, Cultural Exchange, Adventure Travel, and Language Immersion programs for teens. Our programs take students to visit three to five different communities, providing a cross-section of cultures and environments— from rural villages to capital cities. Community Service projects are an integral part of every Global Works trip and students can earn up to 60 hours.

SHORT SUMMARY OF PROGRAM: 5 weeks of academic study, athletics, and exploration. Students come from more than 40 states and around 50 countries. 500 students total, and over 100 courses in multiple disciplines, as well as optional test prep, and many student activities.
