Age Eligibility: rising 9th graders (summer after 8th grade), Whatever age, if the week you want to go to allows you to participate.

Description from student participant: The community is great, the teaching is great, the theater is great as well.


Where is the program: Fort Mason Center; 2 Marina Blvd, Building C, Fort Mason Center

American Conservatory Theater


Type of Program:  Summer Enrichment Program or Camp

What is official name of the program: American Conservatory Theater

Focus: Acting

Age Eligibility: rising 9th graders (summer after 8th grade), rising 10th graders (summer after 9th grade), rising 11th graders (summer after 10th grade), rising 12th graders (summer after 11th grade)

Financial aid available?: Not sure

Description from student participant: I would suggest this program to others because it pushes you out of your comfort zone in a safe advisement. There is usually a very diverse group of children in each class.

Broadway Artists Alliance


Type of Program:  Summer Enrichment Program or Camp

What is official name of the program: Broadway Artists Alliance

Focus: Musical Theatre

Age Eligibility: rising 9th graders (summer after 8th grade), rising 10th graders (summer after 9th grade), rising 11th graders (summer after 10th grade), rising 12th graders (summer after 11th grade), You must qualify or try out

Financial aid available?: Yes

Description from student participant: Its an amazing experience to work with working Broadway professionals and industry members and develop your triple threat skills. You have to audition for the program and you are accepted in a certain major (Acting, Voice, or Dance). For the last session (which I attended) there is a final showcase on an off-broadway stage. I met a lot of amazing people and learned a ton.

Where is the program: New York City (just south of midtown) at Ripley Grier Studios.

National High School Institute: Theatre Arts Division (The Cherubs at Northwestern)

What is official name of the program: National High School Institute: Theatre Arts Division (The Cherubs at Northwestern)

Focus: Theater

Age Eligibility: rising 12th graders (summer after 11th grade), You must qualify or try out

Description from student participant: I got to meet and work with other young actors and technicians from around the world (some of them young professionals). I was taught and directed by professionals working in Chicago and got to form lasting connections with them. I was constantly surrounded by high-quality theatre from morning until night. It was also nice to experience living away from home for five weeks in a college dorm setting.

Where is the program: Evanston, Illinois (near Chicago)

OSF Summer Seminar



Type of Program:  Summer Enrichment Program or Camp


What is official name of the program: OSF Summer Seminar


Focus: all aspects of theatre


Age Eligibility: rising 12th graders (summer after 11th grade)

Description from student participant: This program was an incredible opportunity to connect with other passionate theater students (all aspects of theater!!) and learn about myself and the amazing world of Shakespeare. Between crazy acting exercises, workshops with the actors and technicians of OSF, and watching ALL of the OSF productions you won't have even a second to be bored.
