High School Honors: In this challenging honors program, students study alongside Boston University undergraduates, earning up to 8 college credits in six weeks. 

Research Internship in Science & Engineering: Under the mentorship of our distinguished faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students, high school summer Research Internship in Science & Engineering (RISE) students work on a research project designed by their professor for forty hours each week of the program. 

Summer Challenge: Experience college life and challenge yourself academically with our two-week residential summer program for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Summer Preview: Our one-week non-credit Summer Preview program offers a choice of three seminars to rising high school freshmen and sophomores like yourself. You will have the opportunity to explore an academic interest in-depth or investigate an entirely new subject.

embARC Summer Design Academy

SHORT SUMMARY OF PROGRAM: The embARC program is comprised of four components that together provide a comprehensive framework and multi-disciplinary approach to "placemaking."

• Architecture and Urban Design Studio, in which instruction on freehand sketching, drafting, model building and digital representation will teach students how to conceptualize and communicate two and three-dimensional design ideas
• Sustainable Planning Workshop, where students will engage as genuine stakeholders and participants in a community change process by developing solutions to an authentic urban planning question
• Lecture Series, in which CED faculty and professionals in the field of environmental design will introduce students to the history and theory behind current ideas in the realms of urban design, community development and sustainable city planning
• Design-Build, where students will work alongside trained shop staff to build full-sized structures for the benefit of a local non-profit community partner

Students who fulfill the course requirements will receive one Berkeley credit and an official UC Berkeley transcript upon course completion.

Career Exploration in Architecture

SHORT SUMMARY OF PROGRAM: Students will spend their three weeks in the School of Architecture exploring the ideas, methods, and issues of architecture. Lectures, field trips, discussions, critiques, and other activities during the four-hour daily class session will be supplemented by regular design exercises to be completed outside class time. Students will sample the intensity as well as the subjects of a collegiate architecture curriculum. 

Camp Cardiac

Camp Cardiac, run by local medical students in 16 cities nationwide, serves as an ideal introduction for any high school student interested in exploring a career in medicine.

With a focus on both education and real world experience, Camp Cardiac provides students with a unique opportunity to learn directly from experts in the medical field.  In addition, this 1-week summer day camp provides a foundation for heart healthy living with an emphasis on both diet and exercise.  Although Camp Cardiac's primary focus is on care and maintenance of the heart, it provides an excellent starting point for careers in all fields of medicine.

Pratt Pre-College Program
